Have questions about serving? Check out our FAQ.

How do I begin serving?

Visit our serve page to find out what opportunities are available.

How often do I volunteer?

Frequency will depend on the role and area you serve in. To accommodate your schedule, we have opportunities to serve weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.

Do you conduct background checks?

Yes. We run background checks on all Fairfax Kids volunteers and selective background checks are administered on many other volunteer roles as well.

What if I have a scheduling conflict?

We utilize an online scheduling tool called Planning Center. When a volunteer has a conflict, they are responsible for updating their availability on Planning Center.

Can I bring a friend to serve with me?

We want you to not only invite your friends and family to worship with us on the weekend, but to invite them to become a part of our volunteer teams too. The best way to get started is to bring them to NEXT STEPS or to connect them with your team leader.

What time should I arrive?

Every ministry is different, however we typically we ask weekend volunteers to arrive 30 minutes prior to their scheduled service time. Be sure to check with your team leader to verify expectations.

Do I need experience in order to serve?

No prior experience is necessary. Each ministry leader will assist you in determining what opportunity would be the best fit and train you according.
