Devotion:
When God spoke to Solomon after the temple was dedicated, He showed His covenant people the way back to Him when their sin had brought covenant consequences upon them: humility, prayer, seeking His face, and turning from wickedness. God’s restoring mercy meets the heart that stops defending itself and turns honestly back to Him.
Humility is the posture that says, “Lord, begin with me.” Brokenness is not shame or despair. It is a softened heart that stops resisting God and becomes responsive to His voice.
Pride can hide in ordinary places: when we defend ourselves too quickly, resist correction, blame others, allow prayer to become secondary, hold unforgiveness, or try to carry life in our own strength. In this week of welcoming and encounter, we are not only asking God to work among us. We are asking Him to search within us.
Before asking God to change what is around us, we can ask, “Lord, what in me needs to turn back to You?” The mercy of God is not far from a humble heart. He draws near to those who come honestly, seek His face, and trust Him to forgive, cleanse, and restore what sin, pride, and self-reliance have damaged.
Scripture:
“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

“God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
1 Peter 5:5-7 NKJV
Prayer & Practice:
Lord, teach us to humble ourselves before You. Search our hearts and show us what needs to turn back to You. Forgive, cleanse, and restore what pride, sin, unforgiveness, and self-reliance have damaged, including the places where prayer has become secondary. Lead us in Your everlasting way. Bring Your healing and restoration to our hearts, homes, relationships and church, beginning with me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Before praying for anything else today, pause and ask: “Lord, what in me needs to turn back to You?”
