Frequently Asked Questions

What do our on-site gatherings look like?

Attendees will register to attend service in-person in one of our service venues: the Sanctuary or Great Room. Pre-registration is required for each service to ensure we do not exceed our capacity in each venue.
Services will be limited to 50% capacity.

Off-site parking and shuttle service will not be available.

Front doors will open 10 minutes before each service. There will be clearly marked entrances to the church for each service venue. We ask that you please use the entrance corresponding to the venue you selected when you registered. Ushers will seat each person or group in each venue. When you arrive, please wait to be seated by an usher.

Our Great Room Coffee Shop will not be serving any food or beverages at this time.

What safety and health measures are being taken?

All worship venues will be operating at 50% capacity to allow for socially distanced seating between attendees. Extra time has already been allotted between services to allow us to sanitize each venue before the next service begins. Chairs will be arranged to accommodate social distancing between families and groups.

Bathrooms will be limited to 2 individuals at a time and will be cleaned after every service.

Unless on-stage, all volunteers and staff are required to wear masks. All attendees are also required to wear masks (including children above the age of 2).

Am I really required to wear a mask?

Yes. This is a very important part of re-opening our weekend services so that those around you may feel safe to come and worship in as safe an environment as possible. We continue to ask ourselves the question “what does love compel us to do?” And we strongly believe that wearing a mask is the loving thing to do in an indoor worship environment. We are not driven by fear. Wearing a mask is for others, not for myself.

If you do not have a mask or have forgotten your mask at home, we will have masks available at the door to give to you.  We are committed to kindly and lovingly reminding you to have your mask on at all times.

Do I need to register to attend services?

Yes. Registration is available 2 weeks prior to each service to give ample time to plan ahead and register.

When you pre-register, you will select the venue you wish to be seated in – our Main Sanctuary or The Great Room. Registration is limited to accommodate our limited capacity in each seating venue.

Attendees, please self-screen before attending a service. Anyone experiencing a fever, cough, or other COVID-19 symptoms should not attend. Vulnerable populations should not attend at this time.

If you need to cancel or make any changes to your reservation, please email

What if I’m not ready to attend in-person services yet?

Until you feel comfortable attending in person, you are welcome to join us for Fairfax at Home, an identical online worship experience to our in-person gatherings. Each of our services will be broadcast on Facebook, YouTube, or on our Church Online platform.

How will response stations and offering work?

Our response stations (communion, candles, prayer and notes on the cross) will not be available at this time. However, we would still love to receive your prayer requests and pray for you through our online form. You can also submit prayer requests during live-streamed services in our Church Online platform.

We will not pass an offering basket. Tithes and offering can be placed in the bins in the back of the sanctuary or you may give online.

Spanish Translation services will be available at our 11:15am service. Anyone attending in-person can connect to the live Facebook page to listen to the translated service on the phone. Headphones will be available if you do not have a pair of your own.

I'm new—how do I get connected?

If you are new to Fairfax, need care, want to join a group, or would like to talk to someone after the service, we will have a text-in Next Steps feature you can utilize during the service to connect with us.

Will Fairfax Kids resume programming?

Fairfax Kids will resume limited in-person services for elementary kids (K-6) on September 13, 2020 at both the 9:30 am and 11:15 am service. In order to provide a safe space for your children, there is a maximum number of 25 kids able to register for each service. You can reserve your child’s spot in Fairfax Kids on the same form used to reserve your ticket for the service.
Nursery and Preschool programming will continue to remain closed for now. We hope to welcome our little ones back sometime in the near future!

How will Hangar and The Hub services work?

Yes. The Hub (middle school) and The Hangar (high school) will begin meeting on-site in a limited capacity. The Hangar and the Hub will host services at 6:30pm on Sundays. Pre-registration will be required, as capacity for each service will be limited to 50% capacity.
