Books of the Bible
November 26 from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm EST
An event every week that begins at 7:30 pm on Thursday, repeating until December 17, 2020
Let’s get a show of hands – how many of us think that life would be great if we would just do what we think is right? Sounds so noble, doesn’t it, and really, how hard could it be? Just do the right thing! The Bible teaches us that, actually, life doesn’t go so well when we all do what we feel like doing. In fact, a nation full of people who are doing what’s right in our own eyes is a recipe for personal and national disaster. That is exactly the kind of disaster we’ll watch develop as we study the book of Judges this fall.
Okay, so that sounds depressing, but actually, studying Judges gives us glimmers of hope. Throughout this book, so full of violence, idolatry and immorality, we see a faithful God coming to rescue His people again and again. Their recurrent sin and His persistent faithfulness work together to point us to the ultimate Savior, Jesus Christ. Because it turns out that the leader Israel really needs isn’t another judge or military champion or even a king – it’s Jesus.
We’ll be meeting on Zoom 7:30-9:00pm on Thursday nights starting September 17. The only textbook for the class is your Bible, and the only prerequisite is a curiosity to learn more about the God who gave everything to rescue us. CLICK HERE to register.
