Counseling
Non-professional volunteer counselors to help with a wide variety of issues
Our counselors are not professional counselors, but are volunteers who have completed an eighteen month training program and meet on a bi-weekly basis with a professional psychologist who oversees their clients.
Our lay counseling ministry offers caring, confidential, one-on-one support for adults seeking help with life’s challenges. Our counselors are not professional therapists, but trained volunteers who have completed an eighteen-month training program and meet bi-weekly with a licensed psychologist who oversees their clients and provides professional supervision.
Please note: Because our lay counselors are not licensed mental health professionals, there may be times when a person’s situation is beyond the scope of what we’re equipped to handle—for example, cases involving trauma, abuse, or significant emotional or mental health struggles. In those situations, we believe the most loving and responsible step is to help connect you with a licensed professional counselor who can provide the specialized care you need. Our goal is to ensure you receive the right kind of support, not to turn anyone away. We’re happy to provide trusted referrals if professional counseling would be a better fit.
When you register for lay counseling, you’ll be asked to select the type of support you’re seeking. We offer:
- Individual – One-on-one counseling for adults seeking biblical encouragement and guidance through life’s challenges.
- Grief/Loss – Support for those grieving the death of a loved one or coping with deep loss.
- Budget/Financial – Guidance for individuals who would like help with personal finances.
Our lay counseling ministry does not offer couples or marital counseling. However, both partners are welcome to seek individual lay counseling for personal support and spiritual encouragement. For couples looking for professional relationship counseling, we can recommend licensed Christian counselors we trust.
During registration, you’ll be asked a few questions to help us match you with the best counselor for your situation. You’ll also review and sign a confidentiality agreement to ensure your privacy and comfort.
We consider it a privilege to walk alongside you in a caring and prayerful way — and when your needs require more specialized care, we’ll gladly help you find the professional support you deserve.
