BIBLE CLASS – SUMMER 2024
II Samuel
When King Saul died, David’s immediate reaction was to lead the nation of Israel in lamenting the loss of their king and his sons. Considering that Saul had been actively trying to kill David for years, it’s not quite the reaction we’d expect. But the lament was heartfelt, compounded by David’s loss of his closest friend, Saul’s son, Jonathan.
What next? Well, if we were expecting a peaceful and easy transition from Saul to David, we probably were not paying attention in I Samuel. The book of II Samuel continues not with a national coronation but with a quiet anointing followed by battles, assassination, and intrigue. And things sort of go downhill from there. The highs and lows of David’s reign and life are extreme.
This summer in Bible study, we will focus on God’s persistent presence and power at work in David’s life, no matter what was going on and who caused it.

This weekly class meets from 7:30pm to 9:00pm starting Thursday, May 30th. This class is open to all and meets in a hybrid format, which means that we will meet at Fairfax Church in the Conference Room as well as on Zoom.
