Bible Class: II Samuel

June 6 from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM EDT

When King Saul died, David’s immediate reaction was to lead the nation of Israel in lamenting the loss of their king and his sons. Considering that Saul had been actively trying to kill David for years, it’s not quite the reaction we’d expect. But the lament was heartfelt, compounded by David’s loss of his closest friend, Saul’s son, Jonathan.

What next? Well, if we were expecting a peaceful and easy transition from Saul to David, we probably were not paying attention in I Samuel. The book of II Samuel continues not with a national coronation but with a quiet anointing followed by battles, assassination, and intrigue. And things sort of go downhill from there. The highs and lows of David’s reign and life are extreme.

The Bible Class meets weekly on Thursdays from 7:30-9pm in a hybrid format, allowing you to attend either in person or online. You can sign up here.
