Day 3

Start with Posture of Silence and Solitude (2 minutes)

Read Psalm 5 two or three times either aloud or silently.

For the director of music. For pipes. A psalm of David.

Listen to my words, Lord,
ย ย ย ย consider my lament.
Hear my cry for help,
ย ย ย ย my King and my God,
ย ย ย ย for to you I pray.

In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice;
ย ย ย ย in the morning I lay my requests before you
ย ย ย ย and wait expectantly.
For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness;
ย ย ย ย with you, evil people are not welcome.
The arrogant cannot stand
ย ย ย ย in your presence.
You hate all who do wrong;
ย ย ย ย you destroy those who tell lies.
The bloodthirsty and deceitful
ย ย ย ย you, Lord, detest.
But I, by your great love,
ย ย ย ย can come into your house;
in reverence I bow down
ย ย ย ย toward your holy temple.

Lead me, Lord, in your righteousness
ย ย ย ย because of my enemiesโ€”
ย ย ย ย make your way straight before me.
Not a word from their mouth can be trusted;
ย ย ย ย their heart is filled with malice.
Their throat is an open grave;
ย ย ย ย with their tongues they tell lies.
Declare them guilty, O God!
ย ย ย ย Let their intrigues be their downfall.
Banish them for their many sins,
ย ย ย ย for they have rebelled against you.
But let all who take refuge in you be glad;
ย ย ย ย let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them,
ย ย ย ย that those who love your name may rejoice in you.

Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous;
ย ย ย ย you surround them with your favor as with a shield.

What word or phrase stood out to you?: Meditate on that word or phrase.What might God be speaking to you this day?

Respond to God who has been speaking to you through the word: You can speak out your prayer to God or journal it as you reflect on the Psalm.

End with Posture of Silence and Solitude (2 minutes)
